The Department of Applied Economic Analysis, of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the ULPGC, organizes the XXXVI Conference on Industrial Economy (JEI), which is held annually under the auspices of the Industrial Economy Committee of the Spanish Economic Association ( AEE). At the opening of these Conferences, on Thursday, September 1 at the Faculty, the Rector, Lluís Serra, the Dean of the FEET, Juan Manuel Benítez, the president of the scientific committee of the Conference, Albert Banal-Estanol, from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the president of the executive committee, Ricardo Flores-Fillol, Universitat Rovira y Virgili, and María del Pilar Socorro Quevedo, vice-dean of the Degree in Economics and co-president of the local committee of the JEI.
Since 1985, the Conference on Industrial Economics, which will take place between 1 and 2 September, has brought together national and international researchers in the area of Industrial Economics to discuss the main academic advances related to market regulation and the defense of competition, among other topics, sharing ideas and creating spaces for collaborative work and networking.
125 participants, of 15 different nationalities, meet at these Conferences, whose plenary lectures will be given by professors of recognized prestige, among which the one given by Tommaso Valletti, professor at the Imperial College Business School and former chief economist of the area of Competition in the European Commission, and Jan Eeckhout, an expert on market power issues and author of the book The Profit Paradox.
