The Data Center of the Cabildo de Lanzarote uses the Tourist Indicators Panel developed by ULPGC teachers
Despite living in the ‘information age’ and Big Data, the truth is that the profusion of data offered by official organizations such as the Canarian Institute of Statistics of the Government of the Canary Islands sometimes makes it difficult to interpret it quickly and effectively for decision-making. of decisions or obtaining accurate information. In this context, the professors of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) José Manuel Cazorla Artiles and Christian González Martel, from the departments of Applied Economic Analysis and Quantitative Methods, respectively, have developed a Tourist Indicators Panel to which The Cabildo of Lanzarote has joined through the Data Center, which already offers access to said tool.
Although it is focused on the tourism sector, the developers of this application explain that it is open to all the public interested in consulting data that emanates directly from the ISTAC, although presented through graphs, with the possibility of filtering periods, areas, and other indicators.
For José Manuel Cazorla and Christian González it is a tool that is constantly growing and improving, depending on the needs of institutions such as the Cabildo of Lanzarote or private entities that wish to take advantage of the advantages it offers.
